Weeks 17 and 18.

I've been feeling like an overcooked noodle as of late... and this entry is not what I anticipated writing.

On my way up to the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Addoration's monastery, I was in a car accident outside of Joplin, Missouri. I've never experienced an animal collision, and the damage was extensive—I wasn't able to continue the trip. I'm back to experiencing modern city walkable life and ridesharing until my car repairs are finished in mid- to late-December. Thankfully, I'm only working through the soreness of whiplash and residual anxiety... and no one else was hurt.

This week's OCIA group session was a bit all over the place (full disclosure: so is my brain) with teachings on the liturgical year and Advent. Here are my notes from this week's study guide.

Mass discovery: 10/10 recommend attending daily mass. They are mellow, contemplative, and have a totally different energy than Saturday & Sunday. I was able to pray the entire rosary, and a religious was very kind to show me how to leave/access the building when the main doors are locked and invited me to hang around and pray "whenever."

That's a wrap for now.

God bless,

Kayla

@kayla_tok The Sisters prayed me ✨through✨ this accident today! As soon as my car is repaired (could be spell with the parts market), I’ll be able to reschedule my visit up to the Monastery... Thanks to Cynthia (@GEICO), and the Bill Knight Collision team for taking care of me—I hope you all enjoyed the wine, coffee, and treats. 🤍 #deerseason #blessed #ontheroad #abcxyz #tulsa ♬ original sound - Kayla
